Sarah Lauwers (b. 1997) is a filmmaker and mixed media artist. In 2019, she obtained her Master's degree in Fine Arts at Sint-Lukas Brussels. From 2022 to 2023, she took a few more courses at Sint-Lucas Ghent to pursue further studies in compositing, 3D animation, game design and VR.
In her practice, she explores the possibilities of digital space by relating it to physical materials and textures. Her work touches on themes of meaning-making, wonder and vulnerability. The outcome varies from single screen film, (interactive) video installations to video performances, text and drawings.
Sarah occasionally forms an artist duo with her partner Jonas Beerts . She is also linked as an artist to MUS-E Belgium.
Sarah is currently a resident at BAC ART LAB KULeuven.
